Working Against What Works Within Us

You didn’t happen to come across this for no reason.

You aren’t reading this for no reason.

What if you tapped into the fact that NOW, you are enough. Now before you breathe heavily and eye-roll at the redundancy of the “you are enough” message slung around social media, I dare you to keep reading.

Now.

Now you have everything you need. Now, you are the person you want to become. Now you are working with your future self. Now you have resources at your disposal. Now you have overcome addiction. Now you have found restoration. Now you have been healed of your trauma. Now, you are provided for. Now you are waging the war within. Now you are growing. Now you are becoming. Now you are a presence. Now you are unstoppable. Now you are creating. Now you are sustaining. Now you are needed. Now you are necessary. Now you are.

Simply because He is.

Everything, including ourselves at times, tells us tomorrow, next week, this summer, next year, in six weeks, but what about the presence of now? What if you walked in “your now”? What would be easy to release? What addiction would no longer bind you? What belief system would no longer captivate you? What internal conflict would cease to exist because of your belief in the now? What if you started living from this NOW perspective instead of the “ I want to be”, could be’s, will be’s, might be? What would happen?

We are small minded when we live in our current “nows” from a past perspective or a future hopefulness. Now.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us Ephesians 3: 20

I don’t believe the word “now” was established in the verse for no reason, but what really got me is the end…” the power that works in us”. You mean, the power that he holds in the now, is also working within us?

If this is true, then that means you have and are everything you need now. Even in what you think is a broken state of returning to past habits, NOW He is able, and because He is able so are you because He spoke “according to the power working within us”.

Working. Present moment. Not worked, not will work. Works.

Works. Present..

Works.

We are told that we need x, y, and z to be something, to accomplish something, to become something. We will spend four years working on a degree that isn’t even in line with our integrity or that passion God placed specifically within you because we are so busy WORKING towards being something.

Working. What if we are working WITH the opposition, instead of allowing what is WORKING in us to unfold? The voices that tell you “not now”. The voices that tell you “it’s too hard”. The voices that speak to what you feel is insignificant. What if you are walking hand in hand with the opposition?

Am I working against myself?

Am I working with the power that exists within me currently?

What if we have it all wrong? What if we allow society to steer us from what is already working within us?

We work to be. What if we stopped working “to be” and allowed what is already working to work? What would change? What kind of appreciation for the specifics of self would we then tap into? What belief systems and ideologies that we’ve tied ourselves up in began to break so that what is working within us has room to surface? What would society look like if we realized the power we all have NOW?

Imagine how depression would dwindle. Imagine how anxiety would cease because of what we are aware of NOW. Imagine the uniqueness you would bring to the earth, instead of working to be something you are not. Imagine what social media apps would stop working because we no longer cared to be like someone or something else.

What if we all committed to harness our NOW; that power that is working within us.

Imagine.

Better yet, stop imagining, because the feeling you feel from reading this is for good reason. You don’t have to imagine something you already have access to. It exists NOW.

What would you stop giving energy to? Who would you forgive? Who would you help that you typically would shield yourself from? What would you do with your time now that you possess awareness of the NOW? What would you stop pursuing, what would you then pursue instead?

The real question is why are you uncomfortable to just be?

Maybe you already have a subconscious awareness of the things that you’ve read today but you are scared of the change required to access what is working within you. It is far greater than you could think or imagine, but why do most man-made obstructions steer you to the masses? Why or who wants us to become so busy that we forget the power that is working and focus more on “the doing”, what everyone else is doing, what everyone else looks like, what everyone else has materialistically, what everyone else has accomplished.

Why?

A major part of the reason is because if we all tapped into the specificities of what is working within us, it would ruin what we call society today, or would it make it better?

What has to die outside of you so that what’s within can surface?

As a reminder, I always write to myself. I share because I am meant to. It is ALWAYS outside of my comfort zone to share the intimate thoughts that run through my brain, but what if, what if, this is a fraction of the power working within me? Whose life could change because of something I possess. Whose life would change because of something you possess? Everything outside of me tells me to act like I have it together, put on a show, focus on the superficial, look like more than you are.

What’s crazy is I am more than what I look like. What you see is just a fraction, a mere inkling of what is working within.

I pray for anyone reading this that it gives you courage to be fearless and trust in the Being that is working within you, if not to trust it, then to simply question it, notice it, become comfortable with it.

With love,
