Focused. I will not be overtaken by the wave.

Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God’s glory?

I am writing at the beach this morning. It’s 9:40am and I am sipping on the smoothest sugar cookie coffee with two shots of espresso and oat milk. A dream. The waves come and go reminding me how brief our lives are. It’s wild to me how much of God I see around me. Nature is one of the grandest ways he shows off and I get to relish in his creation. What a gift. For me, the beach in the morning brings me peace of mind.

I am reminded that my purpose is larger than my problems.

I am reminded of the gift that life is.

I feel I am exactly where I should be.

I trust His timing over mine.

I feel and see His blessings and favor in my life.

Think of a place that reminds you of these things. What if you could reside in that space continually? Imagine the peace it would bring you on a daily occurrence. What would that do for your heart? What would that do for your mind? How much less would you compare yourself to others? How would that change the way you speak? How would it change the way you think? How much more grateful would you be if you resided there? Imagine living in a constant state of calm? Think about what you would do with your time?

I had to stop writing. A wave came up and I was so relished in my words that I didn’t notice how high the tide was rising. My keyboard is damaged completely and all I can do is smile.

I’m smiling because the old me would have been so upset and stormed home only to discontinue the beautiful thoughts God was giving me. It’s the interruptions in life that can take you completely off course. I looked around me and the only place where the tide came higher was where I was sitting. Everything else was dry.

Maybe this was what I was supposed to share instead?

Life is going to happen no matter how good your intentions are. No matter how faithful and disciplined you find yourself, there will still be situations that come and try to knock you off course. We can allow the wave to overtake us or we can get up, wipe ourselves off, and smile at what was lost because we know what’s coming and stay focused.

I’m not sure who needs to read this today, but the future He has for you is reliant upon your ability to stay the course. I’m going to read this later at a time when life seems very difficult and it’ll be a reminder for me to stay the course. Don’t lose focus.

Remember your purpose for this season and no matter what comes to try and overtake you, know that you will remain focused.

You see, the beach and the waves can be a blessing, a place of peace, but the waves can also knock you down. It’s the perspective shift that allows you to keep going. It’s the bigger picture. The ocean is vast but the waves are few. Don’t let the wave take your eye off of the beauty of the ocean.

For anyone who reads this, know that I am praying for you. I’m making it an intention to pray before I write so that the words that He gives to me, touch your life in the exact moment that it needs to.

What spoke to your spirit can always speak to someone else’s. It can change the trajectory of their life. Share your story, speak on your experience and continue to inspire others to live by faith, not by fact.
