A Prayer for Uncertainty
Father,
You are not only my heavenly Father, but you are my earthly Father. You are close and personal. I thank you for taking the time you took to create me. I thank you for thinking so highly of me that you wanted one of me to grace the earth. I thank you for taking the time to listen to me. I thank you for being so vastly aware of every feeling, emotion, and thought that crosses my mind. I thank you for thinking I am important enough to want to be present in my everyday life challenges.
You are my provider. You are my protection. You go before me. You mapped out each step of my life before I was even born so no situation is a surprise to you. I can rest easy and trust in this time of uncertainty. I can rest easy and trust that you will take the time to meet me and walk with me as you do others because you thought me important enough to create me.
You are the Good Shepherd. You lead me to still waters and green pastures. You lead me to provision. Father, you wouldn’t have called me here, if you weren’t going to be my peace, my provision, and my protection here. I thank you for your patience in my doubt. I thank you for not labeling me a doubter when I face periods of doubt, you never label me from an experience but instead call me your child.
Father, I don’t know what is coming next. I am fearful, uncertain, and afraid. I know I can speak to you about my feelings because you already knew they would come. You take joy in the real me, and my vulnerabilities, not the me I pretend to be. I pray that you would sustain me while I walk towards what you are calling me to. In my weakness, you are strong, so help me to see my weakness as places and spaces for you to show out.
If I am feeling weak, that means I can rely on you to come through. I don’t have to lean on my own understanding. I can pray for your perspective to see things as You do, not as they seem in front of me. Father, lead me, go before me, and sustain me through this uncertainty.
You say in your word, that I only need the faith of a mustard seed to move mountains and I am coming to claim the tiny faith I have. Multiply it, add to it, make it abundant and grow my faith through this uncertainty. Your will over mine. Your mind over my matter. Your thoughts over what I see. Through you,
I will accomplish your will for my life, I will overcome this uncertainty. I trust you.
In Your All Powerful Name, Amen.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6–7
